Cathay Pacific Announces Senior Management Changes

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced senior management changes, with effect from the second half of the year.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Tony Tyler said: "These appointments reflect the company's longstanding policy of developing our own management expertise. The appointments position Cathay Pacific to meet the challenges ahead and to ensure the smooth implementation of our strategy of growth as Hong Kong's home carrier and as one of the world's leading airlines."

Ian Shiu - Director Corporate Development

Currently General Manager Revenue Management, Sales & Distribution - a position held since 1999 - Mr Shiu joined Cathay Pacific in 1978 and has worked with the airline in London, Singapore and the Benelux region. He is also a Director of Abacus International Pte Ltd. Mr Shiu will succeed Mr Augustus Tang, who has been nominated to succeed Mr PK Chan as Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited.

Ivan Chu - Director Service Delivery

In his new position, Mr Chu will oversee all aspects of the airline's service both on the ground and in the air. Currently General Manager Southwest Pacific, Mr Chu joined Cathay Pacific in 1984 and has worked with the group in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Thailand and Australia. Mr Chu will succeed Ms Quince Chong, who will take up a new position within the Executive Office.

Quince Chong - Director Corporate Affairs

In this newly created position, Ms Chong will oversee the airline's activities in government relations, communications and environmental affairs. Ms Chong joined Cathay Pacific in 1998 and has worked with the group in the Corporate Communication and Inflight Services departments. She is Chairman of the Hong Kong Association for Customer Service Excellence, and a member of the Council of the Open University of Hong Kong and the Council of Hong Kong Baptist University.

Rupert Hogg - Director Cargo

Rupert Hogg is currently Managing Director of James Finlay Ltd. A wholly owned subsidiary of John Swire & Sons Ltd, James Finlay has extensive tea and horticultural interests in the UK, East Africa, Sri Lanka and Mainland China. Mr Hogg joined John Swire & Sons in 1986. He worked with Cathay Pacific from 1988 to 1997 in various marketing, commercial and revenue management roles in Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand and India. Mr Hogg will succeed Mr Ron Mathison, who will join James Finlay Ltd as Managing Director.
