3 愛爾蘭回應歐盟委員會對收購 O2 展開
第二階段檢討的決定

（都柏林，2013 年 11 月 6 日）3 愛爾蘭得悉歐盟委員會已於今日決定，對其收購 Telefónica 愛爾蘭（「愛爾蘭 O2」）業務的檢討，將進入第二階段。歐盟委員會較早前已多次聲明，會詳細研究所有國境內的電訊業務合併活動，故此現在宣佈決定展開深入調查並不令人意外，而是次深入調查的決定也不預示檢討的最終結果。3 愛爾蘭相信，當地 3 與 O2 業務的合併，對市場競爭和愛爾蘭的電訊客戶都有利，並有信心合併將可獲歐盟員委會批准。

3 愛爾蘭在合併的首階段檢討過程中，一直持開放態度與歐盟委員會進行具建設性的討論，並預料將繼續與委員會維持緊密合作，為收購計劃取得批准。

愛爾蘭多年來由於市場結構問題，出現一家公司獨佔市場領導地位而另外三家流動網絡供應商盈利低微，甚至出現虧損，因而令愛爾蘭電訊市場飽受寬頻基建投資不足的困擾。3 愛爾蘭一旦與 O2 合併，將可擴大營運規模，大大加強公司在網絡基建方面的能力，並可以更積極地挑戰市場的其他競爭者。消費者也可因合併而受惠，享受到更快更廣的 LTE 寬頻服務、更佳服務質素和更優惠的價格。
