Swire Properties Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Pacific Place

21 May 2014, Hong Kong - Swire Properties today hosted a celebration party at Pacific Place to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the premium shopping mall at Admiralty. The party also kicked off a series of celebration activities at Pacific Place for the next three weeks, including multimedia installations showcasing the history of Pacific Place and a special sales redemption programme.

"Over the past 25 years, this iconic development has transformed Admiralty into a commercial and retail heartland," said Elizabeth Kok, Retail Portfolio Director of Swire Properties. "Pacific Place has retained its leadership position in Hong Kong, and continues to raise the bar for what a lifestyle destination should deliver to its customers.

Themed "A Place in the Heart", the highlights of the anniversary celebration are three architecturally designed multimedia installations created in collaboration with the Royal Institute of British Architects (Hong Kong Chapter). Selected from over 40 entries, the three installations located at Garden Court, Park Court and the mall's level 1 main corridor offer visitors snapshots of the history and impact of Pacific Place on the city, past and present. It also showcases recollections of 10 well-known Hong Kong personalities on their encounters with Pacific Place, namely artist and designer Alan Chan, interior designer Candice Chan Chao, barrister Brandon Chau, solicitor and legal consultant Winston Chu, entrepreneur and style icon Bonnae Gokson, associate publisher of Prestige magazine Gordon Lam, architect WH Lam, fashion stylist Ricky Kwok, CEO of PYE Dee Poon and fashion icon and lyricist Wyman Wong.

In addition, 25 giant birthday cards from famed international brands including Bulgari, Chloé, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jimmy Choo, Smythson and Versace, are on display along the mall's level 1 main corridor under a modern hanging structure made of bamboo and fiberglass.

As part of a three-week celebratory sales redemption programme, Pacific Place partnered with retail tenants La Maison du Chocolat, DG Lifestyle, Hong Kong Records, Guerlain and Shanghai Tang to provide tailor-made, limited-edition offers themed around the five senses of the Pacific Place experience. Shoppers can redeem their gifts upon spending HK$4,500* or above in a single day via electronic payment at the mall.

Since opening in 1989, the mall at Pacific Place offers over 711,000 square feet of world-class shopping and dining. It houses around 140 shops and boutiques and one major department store, collectively offering an array of contemporary fashion and international luxury brands. The mall integrates three Grade-A office towers (One, Two and Three Pacific Place), a quartet of renowned five-star hotels (Conrad, Island Shangri-La, JW Marriott and The Upper House), plus an exclusive 270-suite apartment residence (Pacific Place Apartments). In 2011, the mall completed a HK$2.1 billion redesign project led by globally acclaimed designer Thomas Heatherwick to set a new standard for contemporary luxury.
