Swire Properties Celebrates Grand Opening of Brickell City Centre in Miami

4 November 2016, Hong Kong - Swire Properties today announced the grand opening of Phase I of Brickell City Centre, the developer's second mixed-use development in the US after Brickell Key. Joined by over 2,000 guests, Guy Bradley, Chief Executive of Swire Properties Limited; Stephen Owens, President of Swire Properties Inc; Kieran Bowers, Executive Vice President of Swire Properties Inc; along with the Mayors of both City of Miami and Miami Dade County officiated at the grand opening ceremony at the newly unveiled retail centre.

The 500,000 sq ft retail centre is an integral part of Brickell City Centre, a 4.9 million sq ft mixed-use development located in the heart of Miami's Brickell financial district. In addition to the retail component, the development also comprises two Grade-A office towers and two condominium towers, as well as EAST, Miami, the first Swire Hotel in the US. Brickell City Centre is also seamlessly integrated with the city's key transportation nodes, featuring a direct connection with Miami Metromover - the city's public transit system - on the third floor of the retail centre.

"This is a tremendous milestone for Swire Properties and signals our long-standing commitment to the great city of Miami," said Guy Bradley, Chief Executive of Swire Properties. "Brickell City Centre is a stunning, integrated large-scale development in the urban core of Miami, and carries Swire Properties' stamp of creative transformation."

Mr Bradley added: "The launch today confirms our innovative approach to mixed-use development in the US, something we have been successfully doing for the past 30 years in our home city of Hong Kong and more recently in Mainland China. I am convinced that our project will further transform the district into a world-class urban destination where people live, work and enjoy life."

The three-level retail centre is jointly developed with Whitman Family Development and Simon Property Group. It offers a total of 125 stores and is anchored by Miami's first new Saks Fifth Avenue department store. The retail centre also features a luxury dine-in movie theatre operated by Mexico-based Cinemex, along with an eclectic range of shops including beauty, home decor, jewellery and apparel outlets. The restaurants and bars will be situated throughout the third and fourth floors, comprising a mix of fine dining restaurants, casual cafés and a three-level Italian food hall.

Brickell City Centre also consists of the CLIMATE RIBBON™, an innovative sustainability feature comprising an elevated trellis of steel, glass and fabric which spans 150,000 sq ft over three city blocks of Brickell City Centre. The first structure of its kind in the world, the CLIMATE RIBBON™ forms a central corridor and is designed to harness Miami's bay breezes while deflecting the sun to create a unique indoor and outdoor, naturally lit and naturally cooled environment.

Phase II of Brickell City Centre, located on the adjacent site, is an 80-storey mixed-use development comprising retail, office, hotel and residential space in a single tower to be called One Brickell City Centre. Work on the project is planned to commence in 2018.
