Cathay Pacific Airways today announced its latest measure to enhance connectivity between Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region with a new service that allows passengers to check in for the flights from downtown Shenzhen. Travellers can have their boarding passes issued at the check-in counter located in the Shenzhen Kingkey Banner Center for the airline's flights departing from Hong Kong, completing their check-in procedures before taking cross-boundary land transportation to the airport.
Upon arrival at HKIA, passengers with baggage can go straight to the Cathay Pacific Self Check-in Bag Drop counter. Those without check-in baggage can proceed straight to Immigration, speeding up the process of getting to their flight. Passengers departing from Shenzhen will need to arrive at the downtown check-in counter at least 150 minutes before the scheduled departure time of their flight.
The Shenzhen downtown check-in facility is an extension of the "upstream" check-in service already being offered to Cathay Pacific passengers at Shenzhen International Airport and those travelling between Shekou, Fuyong, Humen, Macau and HKIA's SkyPier by cross-boundary ferry.
The new service will further strengthen Hong Kong's dual role as leading international aviation hub and gateway to the Mainland by creating seamless connections between the Pearl River Delta region and international flights departing from Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific General Manager Sales, PRD & Hong Kong James Tong said: "We have been offering through-check services for passengers to and from PRD since 2005 as part of a continued effort to strengthen transportation links between Hong Kong and neighbouring cities in the region. We are pleased to launch this new check-in service from downtown Shenzhen which we are sure will be welcomed by travellers from the PRD region."
