Guangzhou's First Mandarin Oriental Hotel Opens in TaiKoo Hui

(24 January 2013, Guangzhou) - Swire Properties welcomes Guangzhou's first Mandarin Oriental Hotel into TaiKoo Hui, its flagship property in Mainland China. The opening of the five-star luxury hotel reinforces TaiKoo Hui's position as a focal point for business, shopping and leisure.

"This is another red letter day for TaiKoo Hui as Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group brings a renowned reputation for operating some of the world's best hotels," said Guy Bradley, Swire Properties' Chief Executive Officer, Mainland China. "Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou at TaiKoo Hui is bound to burnish that reputation, providing world class luxury accommodation. It's a perfect fit for our flagship Mainland development which in the two years since opening has become a landmark destination for modern luxury."

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group's first hotel in a downtown location in Mainland China, the Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou offers a total of 263 guest rooms and suites, along with 24 serviced apartments and is the only hotel in TaiKoo Hui. Combining its unique aesthetic modern design with the Mandarin Oriental's classic service, it offers some of the most spacious and luxurious rooms in the city.

Located in the heart of Tianhe's central business district and one of the city's main transportation hubs, TaiKoo Hui is Swire Properties' largest investment property in Mainland China, with a total gross floor area of approximately 358,000 sqm1. TaiKoo Hui consists of a premium world-class shopping mall, two Grade-A office towers, a cultural centre, and now, with the opening of Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou, a five-star luxury hotel that further enhances the total experience of the development.

Since its inception in 2011, the 180 shops of TaiKoo Hui's shopping mall are fully leased to international brand names, sophisticated lifestyle boutiques and exquisite restaurants. A holistic shopping experience is enhanced with year-long in-mall activities from Christmas lighting decorations and festival redemption programmes, to live band performances and cultural events. The two Grade-A office towers are home to international companies and local corporations, including HSBC, the largest tenant occupying 29 floors, or approximately 47% of the gross floor area within the towers.
